Tainan’s satisfaction index of law and order has been topping among the 6 special municipalities
Concerning the survey of city’s overall competitiveness conducted by Global Views in July, 2016, Tainan’s satisfaction index of law and order has been topping among the 6 special municipalities according to the evaluation by the Ministry of Interior. Following Mayor’s golden rule, Tainan City Police Department says, “We are making our consistent efforts to maintain it, there’s no eternal success when it comes to social order. Besides, we neither hide crime reports nor beautify the figures.” After the merger of Tainan City and County in 2011, the crime rate, the clearance rate, and the offender rate of all criminal cases (larceny and violent crime included) have been gradually lowering in recent years, which indicate the good sign of the social order status. Except being evaluated on the second place in 2015, Tainan City’s satisfaction index of law and order all topped among the 6 special municipalities in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016. In addition, the survey of the mayor’s administration performance released by Global Views in July, 2016, the citizens scored the mayor of Tainan 77.7, reaching the first place among other 22 cities nationwide. Meanwhile, 36.3% of citizens recognized the social order is better than that of the previous year; More than being ahead of other cities, Tainan City is the only one city evaluated Level 1 and its mayor obtaining a five-star assessments of the civil administration, which proves the citizens’ satisfaction for the overall performance in terms of policing and administration.
